Minutes of Board Meeting of March 19, 2003 Location: IRC server webmaster.ca.us.webchat.org, channel #asfar Board Members Present: Tevi Abrams, Jacob Kafka, David Schneider-Joseph, Oliver Traldi, Susan Wishnetsky Members Present: none Visitors Present: one The meeting was called to order at 9:20 pm eastern time. Approval of minutes No minutes of previous meetings were ready to be approved. Reports of Officers The President, David Schneider-Joseph, reported that he had submitted a "President's Pen" piece for Youth Truth. The Vice-President, Oliver Traldi, had no report. The Secretary, Susan Wishnetsky, said she was way behind on everything. The Treasurer, David Schneider-Joseph, had nothing new to report except that there was $500.77 in the PayPal account. Susan Wishnetsky told him about the complicated procedure for adding him as a signer to the bank account. The idea of transferring money into or out of the PayPal account was discussed, but nothing was decided. The Webmaster, David Schneider-Joseph, reported 22,871 pageviews in February and $2.80 added to the Amazon account. He then reported that Commission Junction would begin charging $9.95 a month if ASFAR's site didn't refer at least one new customer to HostRocket every six months. Since our commission on each referral would only be $47, he suggested cancelling the Commission Junction account. After discussion, Susan Wishnetsky moved to discontinue the account. The motion was seconded and passed 5-0. The Recruiting Officer was not present. Reports of Committees: For the zine committee, Susan Wishnetsky reported on the progress of the latest issue of Youth Truth, which had just come back from the printer. The demonstrations committee had no report. New Business David Schneider-Joseph raised the possibility of adding a Wiki, a directory-like web site which allows anyone to create and edit entries, to the YR Fire site. An example of a Wiki, he added, is at <http://www.wikipedia.com>. After discussion of how unwanted entries or editing (e.g., obscene, false, or reflecting badly on ASFAR) could be prevented, the issue was tabled pending further investigation. David Schneider-Joseph then raised the issue of reviving the demonstrations committee. Oliver Traldi was suggested as a possible chairperson for the committee, but no final decision was made. The next meeting was scheduled for April 9, 2003 at 9 pm eastern time. The meeting was adjourned at 10:13 pm eastern time. Respectfully submitted, Susan Wishnetsky |
