Reports of Officers

The President, Eric Anderson, gave no official report.

The Vice-President, Justin Mallone, reported that he had been interviewed
about ASFAR for the August issue of the national magazine Teen People.

The Secretary, Susan Wishnetsky, reported that she had been interviewed for
an article following up on the AOL article in the inaugural issue of Youth
Truth, but did not know where the article would appear.  She also reported a
recent increase in membership, particularly in Illinois.  She further
reported that no responses had been received to the message regarding a
possible rally this summer.

The Treasurer, Eric Anderson, gave no official report.

The PR Coordinator, Matthew Havens, gave no official report.

For the 'Zine Committee, Susan Wishnetsky reported that the cost of producing
and mailing the last issue of Youth Truth was not excessive.

Old Business.

The digest option was discussed.  It was reported that the few members who
had tested it seemed to be satisfied, and it was agreed that the option could
now be announced to the membership at large and made available as an option
to all new members.  Eric Anderson added this option to the "join" page of
ASFAR's site while the meeting was in session, and it was tested by several
members.  Daniel M. agreed to assist Susan Wishnetsky in writing a message to
send to all members who wished to sign up for this option, to prevent
excessively long messages from being sent to the discussion list.

Susan Wishnetsky reported that she had purchased a button maker that makes
metal promotional buttons.  Suggestions were made about possible button
designs.

A motion was made and seconded that Aaron Biterman be appointed to the vacant
board position.  After some discussion, the vote was called, and the motion
carried.

New Business

Larissa Price reported that the Iowa Civil Liberties Union (ICLU) was
considering taking on the case of a student at her high school who had been
suspended on the basis of rumors about him.  Eric Anderson asked her to
compose a letter to be sent to the ICLU on behalf of ASFAR asking them to
take the case, and submit it to the board for approval.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn.  After some final details were
raised and discussed about items raised earlier in the meeting, the vote was
called, and the motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 11:55 pm central time.

Respectfully submitted,

Susan Wishnetsky
Secretary, ASFAR
