Time: 7:00 P.M. CST

Board Members Present: Eric Anderson, Jason Gerber, Justin Mallone, Susan Wishnetsky

Members Present: Ben A., Nikolai Z.

Visitors Present: None

Reports of Officers: The President, Eric Anderson, reported that he was updating ASFAR's application for 501c4 non-profit tax status to include the current board members' names as well as a few other changes. He further reported that he had signed and sent out letters of introduction which had been previously approved for mailing to known supportive individuals and agencies.

The Vice-President, Justin Mallone, gave no official report.

The Treasurer, Arthur Traldi, was not in attendance.

The Secretary, Susan Wishnetsky, gave no official report.

Old Business

A motion was made to elect Jason Gerber to one of the board vacancies. (NOTE: since the last meeting, Nickolai Zeldovich submitted his resignation from the board, although he remains an active member.) After some discussion and questioning of the candidate, the motion carried.

Changes to the position paper on education, submitted by Susan Wishnetsky, were discussed. Since the newest board member had not seen the paper, no motion was made on approval of the paper, and further discussion was tabled.

The formation of the 'zine committee was discussed, with several of those present volunteering for various tasks. The need for volunteers to help with research was raised, and formation of the official committee was not finalized.

New Business

A motion was made that Jason Gerber be appointed Research Officer. The motion carried.

Susan Wishnetsky raised several issues regarding membership, proposing that members be required to provide full names and locations (their state, if not their full mailing address) and to state their support of the organization clearly in order to join. She further proposed that ASFAR's mailing list be refined to allow more information to be included about members and to include useful contacts who were not members. Discussion was tabled pending research of ASFAR's bylaws.

Eric Anderson reported that the American Political Association had emailed him proposing a merger with ASFAR. The consensus was that he should respond to that email and politely decline, with an offer to work with them in the future. No vote was taken.

The meeting adjourned at 9 pm central time. Respectfully submitted, Susan Wishnetsky ASFAR Board Member ASFAR Interim Secretary
