Message From the New VP
By Larissa Price
Vice-President, ASFAR
I just thought Id write something since Ive recently been elected Vice President of this fine organization!
Some information about me: Ive been a member of ASFAR since 1997 and Ive served on the Board of Directors since the Fall of 1999. I affiliate myself with the Libertarian Party, but I have always believed strongly in keeping ASFAR a non-partisan organization. We are a group of liberals, conservatives, libertarians, and others. This is what makes us strong. We draw members from all different sectors, not just specializing in one.
I was drawn into being on the board of directors by my good friend, Justin Mallone; without him I probably wouldnt have taken the initiative to become more involved. So, of course, I definitely want to thank him here! Being a part of the youth rights movement has given me a chance to meet a lot of really interesting people. Most of them hopefully will become lifetime friends of mine.
Im in this for the long-haul. My membership in ASFAR will not end when I turn 18 or when Im 21. Ive made the promise to myself to work for youth rights til the end of my days.
I hope that my leadership in ASFAR will prove to be effective and well respected by other members. Im not in this to make enemies! My biggest concern is uniting youth rights organizations worldwide to create a stronger force against age-biased laws. We may have our disagreements but our main focus is the same and we need to hang onto that in order to get anything done.
